Which center is staffed?

The West Palm Beach center at 6161 North Jog Road is a full-service, staffed location on weekdays; most transfer-station centers are self-service drop-off. Check the SWA locations page for the current service level before you go.

Does the SWA take electronics?

Yes — televisions, computers, monitors, phones, audio/visual gear, holiday lights and rechargeable batteries are accepted from residents at any HCRC at no cost. Businesses with commercial quantities need to call the SWA first.

Where do lithium batteries go in Palm Beach County?

Any HCRC, year-round, or one of the SWA's lithium-battery collection events. Tape the terminals and bag them separately. EV batteries are not accepted — return those to the dealer or manufacturer.

Can I bring a couch or mattress to an SWA center?

No — bulk furniture goes through your city or hauler's curbside bulk program, not the HCRCs. If you can't wait for the next pickup, that's the job we do.

How Drop-Off Works in Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County is the simplest of the three: the Solid Waste Authority runs a single county-wide system, and every resident can use any Home Chemical & Recycling Center regardless of which city they live in. Six of the seven are co-located with SWA transfer stations; the seventh is the standalone center on North Jog Road in West Palm Beach.

The HCRCs take home chemicals — paint and stains, pesticides and pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, rechargeable batteries, propane tanks — and used or outdated electronics, at no charge to residents. Commercial quantities of electronics are handled separately; businesses should call the SWA.
